'Social Media App TikTok will be banned starting this Sunday!'

Okay. I'll admit to it... over the summer, I caught wind of the TikTok obsession and it's been a off and on thing for me to try to keep up with. I had no idea at the time that Tiktok could be a clever way to brand and market yourself. I honestly didn't sit down long enough to be creative with it, however, I saw that lots of folks did and I enjoyed flipping through different videos, getting a kick out of most of them! Most of the younger generations should start to prepare themselves to say good bye to Tik Tok starting this Sunday according to WDRW Channel 12.

From WDRW Channel 12:

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The United States plans to ban TiKTok starting Sunday when President Donald Trump’s executive orders take effect against the Chinese-owned app and WeChat.
The Commerce Department announced this morning it will prohibit any moves to distribute or maintain the programs on an app store.
In addition to the download ban, it will be illegal to host or transfer internet traffic associated with WeChat beginning Sunday and for TikTok as of Nov. 12.
Further restrictions could still be announced later, including against other apps if they are seen as workarounds.
Trump earlier said he would ban TikTok in the United States unless it’s purchased by an American company.
The announcement from the Commerce Department
In response to President Trump’s Executive Orders signed August 6, 2020, the Department of Commerce (Commerce) today announced prohibitions on transactions relating to mobile applications (apps) WeChat and TikTok to safeguard the national security of the United States. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has demonstrated the means and motives to use these apps to threaten the national security, foreign policy, and the economy of the U.S. Today’s announced prohibitions, when combined, protect users in the U.S. by eliminating access to these applications and significantly reducing their functionality.
“Today’s actions prove once again that President Trump will do everything in his power to guarantee our national security and protect Americans from the threats of the Chinese Communist Party,”said U.S. Department of Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross.“At the President’s direction, we have taken significant action to combat China’s malicious collection of American citizens' personal data, while promoting our national values, democratic rules-based norms, and aggressive enforcement of U.S. laws and regulations.”
While the threats posed by WeChat and TikTok are not identical, they are similar. Each collects vast swaths of data from users, including network activity, location data, and browsing and search histories. Each is an active participant in China’s civil-military fusion and is subject to mandatory cooperation with the intelligence services of the CCP. This combination results in the use of WeChat and TikTok creating unacceptable risks to our national security.

I have found an alternate solution to Tiktok lovers... Instagram Reels! It works very similar to Tiktok. I'm looking forward to doing more Reels myself and to see how creative I can get with it! I have spoken to a few Tiktok lovers and they aren't too crazy about Reels BUT let's see if that changes when functionality goes down with Tiktok.
