Trouble Waking Up? Try These Steps!

From LIFEHACKER:

Do you have a hard time waking after after a good sleep? Bad sleep? ANY type of sleep?

Me too. I've actually gotten in the habit of getting up early the last number of months to work out, walk the dogs, etc. But I gotta admit, it is a CHORE to do almost every morning. The bed is too damn comfortable sometimes, or I just don't get enough rest. And I'm sure most of you reading this probably have the same issues. After all, we can't just stop the world because we're too tired, right?

Never fear, Lifehacker has put together a list of ways you can give your body a jolt. Here are a couple you can try TOMORROW:

  • Make your coffee bitter. When every sip is more bitter than what you’re used to, you might just feel more awake while drinking it.
  • Grab a few minutes of direct sunlight. More and more people are taking Vitamin D pills because they DON'T get out in the sun enough. Of course, this only works in the daylight.
  • Pull your hair. Seriously. Don't pull it out (although you might feel like it), but tug at your hair to get blood flowing to your head in a new and refreshing way.
  • Splash cold water on your face. I know it seems obvious, but it DOES work.
  • Pop a strong mint. This works for me...plus it cancels out the morning breath.
  • Play fast-tempo music. Play music you love, but absolutely keep it upbeat and fast.
  • Stretch your back, neck and legs. The point is to really stretch so that the blood gets flowing again throughout your entire body.
  • Take off some layers. Taking it off a layer may give enough of a chill factor to shake things up and stave off drowsiness.
  • Flip your head upside-down. The massive rush of blood to the head can be a big pick-me-up.
  • Bite a lemon! A zesty slap to the face might be exactly what you need.
