Aerosmith's catalog reissue campaign with the Universal Music Group, who they signed with in 2021, is officially underway with their self-titled debut album set for re-release on March 20th.

Originally released on January 5th, 1973, the eight-track album that gave us "Dream On," "Mama Kin," and "Walkin' the Dog," will be be available in numerous configurations highlighted by the Legendary Collector’s Edition. This version contains the original album remastered on 180-gram clear vinyl, a new 2024 mix pressed on 180g translucent red vinyl, a performance of most of the album and a few other songs from Paul’s Mall in Boston from 1973 on 180g black vinyl, a host of recently unearthed and unheard studio tracks on 180g black vinyl, and an exclusive clear UV cloud-effect 12” vinyl with “Dream On” (2024 Remaster) and “Dream On” (2024 Mix) placed atop a printed sky-blue slipmat. It also contains stickers, a poster, and a hardcover book with never-before-seen photos and new interviews with all five original members as well as comments from Dolly Parton, Slash, Corey Taylor of Slipknot, Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, Jerry Cantrell of Alice In Chains, Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes, Sully Erna of Godsmack, and others.

AEROSMITH: When They Walked That Way

Today, Wednesday, January 28th, marks the 25th anniversary of Aerosmith taking part in the 2001 Super Bowl Halftime Show at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa alongside NSYNC,

Britney Spears, Mary J. Blige and Nelly. Preceded by a prerecorded skit featuring Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler and Chris Rock with Aerosmith and NSYNC, it started with the boy band doing "Bye Bye Bye" followed by Aerosmith doing their ballad "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing."

NSYNC then came back for "It's Gonna Be Me," which led into Aerosmith doing their new song "Jaded," followed by "Walk This Way" with NSYNC, Britney Spears, Mary J. Blige and Nelly.

It was the first Halftime Show to have the audience on the field, and, depending who you ask or what poll you read, it was either one of the best or worst performances in the "Big Game's" history.

In 2023, Yahoo Sports listed it as the third worst, saying, "In attempting to appeal to everyone, this dog’s breakfast of musical styles (and fashion) ends up collapsing in an incredibly awkward 'Walk This Way' strut-dance-singalong. Hey, it was 2001, nobody knew any better." But Steven Tyler felt he did. "You know we were the brunt of every morning show since then. I mean it came to us as, 'Would you guys like to play the biggest show you ever played with Britney Spears and 'N Sync and you can end with 'Walk This Way' and you can start with...' and we started building it. 'Alright who's gonna be watching?' '800-million people.' 'Let me think about it.' 'Okay.' So what's the question? What is the question? If you can be as bad as you wanna be in front of how many people, would you want to do it? Yeah."

The worst two were Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake's "nipplegate" in 2004, and Elvis Presto in 1989, which was a video of an Elvis-impersonating magician. This year's game, Super Bowl 60, will be held on February 8th at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks.

LOU GRAMM: Finally

More than two years after Lou Gramm first said his new album was imminent comes a release date. Titled Released, it contains 10 songs written by Gramm and his former Black Sheep

bandmate Bruce Turgon. Commenting on the album, Gramm says, “[It's] a collection of unreleased songs that were recorded in the 1980s during the production of my three previous solo albums. "These are powerful, heartfelt songs with a great vintage sound taken right from my old multi-track tapes. This new album was a long time coming and it’s a real nostalgia trip. When I pulled these songs out of the vault, I knew I had to finish them for my fans around the world, so they can experience what I did when I first heard them after all these years. "It means a lot to me to finally see this album released, to be taken back in time when I hear this music again, to remember working with all these great musicians, and to feel that my catalog is now complete.”

Set to come out on March 27th, Released features Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell – Gramm’s bandmate in Shadow King in 1990 and '91 – on “Young Love," which is out now on YouTube and other digital services.

THE DOORS, PUBLIC ENEMY: About That Name...

The collaboration we told you about last week between Public Enemy frontman Chuck D and The Doors drummer John Densmore called doPE might have to rethink their name.

The moniker is a combo of the beginning of the Doors' lowercase logo and the Public Enemy abbreviation PE, but the long-running New York City industrial metal band Dope think it will "invite a good bit of market confusion."

Dope frontman Edsel Dope posted that "I am a huge fan" and that "the last thing that I want to do is interrupt a creative endeavor from two legends that I admire and respect." "However....I appropriately registered the artist name Dope and I have owned the Trademark, ever since I hit the scene, more than 25 years ago." "Unfortunately for Chuck and John, choosing to call themselves doPE would invite a good bit of market confusion, especially on the streaming services like Spotify...The paperwork is up to date, and my rights regarding the name are indisputable." "So if YOU TWO LEGENDS are committed to using MY FOUR LETTERS, please hit me up directly, as I would love to be part of some form of collaborative effort with you."

Densmore and Chuck D have yet to comment on the offer. Their first album, No Country for Old Men, will be released as an exclusive for Record Store Day on April 18th.

The Grammy-winning singer is giving everyone in the country a free year's worth of access to neil-young-archives-dot-com, which holds his music and music videos.He says he's doing this to alleviate "unwarranted stress and threats" they may be experiencing due to President Trump's "deisre to gain sovereingty over the island."Young also expressed hope that other artists and groups will do the same.

Original KISS drummer Peter Criss will sign autographs and pose for photos at the New Jersey Horror Con and Film Festival in Iselin on May 29th from 6 to 10 pm and May 30th from 1 to 6 pm.

Bryan Adams’ Roll With the Punches has been nominated for a Juno Award – the Canadian equivalent of the Grammy Awards – for Rock Album of the Year. The Junos will be handed out on March 29th in Hamilton, Ontario. Adams will release an acoustic video performance of “Love Is Stronger Than Hate” from Roll With the Punches on Friday.

Queen guitarist Brian May has posted a video on Instagram of his latest favorite rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody,” this one by a band in Montesano Salentino, Italy that uses the bell tower of their local cathedral to accompany them.

America, which is just down to Dewey Bunnell as the last of the three original members, have added nine more dates to their Happy Trails spring tour. It runs from April 2nd in Louisville, Kentucky with 21 dates through June 27th in Chicago. It’s preceded by a one-off date on March 7th in Highland, California, which is a warm-up for their appearance aboard the ’70s Rock & Romance Cruise out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida on March 21st.

Paul Stanley will make appearances in support of his artwork at the Wentworth Gallery in Boca Raton, Florida on February 21st from 6 to 8 p.m. ET, and on the 22nd at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino location from 3 to 5 ET.

John Mellencamp will perform at publisher Primary Wave Music’s pre-Grammy Party this Saturday at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Ironically, Mellencamp is not one of Primary Wave’s clients.

Toto are not pleased that their breakthrough 1978 song, “Hold the Line,” is being used in an ad by a Michigan gubernatorial candidate. They issued a statement saying, “Toto has never, nor will the band ever, be tied to political interests on either side of the aisle. Mixing politics with the band’s music has not been authorized nor was the use ever requested by this gubernatorial candidate… We wanted to make this clear to the entire universe and misuse without formal clearance has been reported to the master rights holder Sony and the music publisher of ‘Hold the Line.’”

Def Leppard have posted photos on Instagram of themselves rehearsing for their Las Vegas residency, which has them doing 12 shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace from February 3rd through the 28th.

Cream are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their 2005 reunion at London’s Royal Albert Hall by reissuing the album from that four-night engagement -- Royal Albert Hall London May 2-3-5-6, 2005 – on triple blue and green splatter vinyl, and double blue and orange CD this Friday. Also out on Friday on YouTube will be a video of their performance of “White Room” from their May 3rd performance.

David Bowie’s estate has posted a tribute on his website to Floyd Vivino, also known as comedian Uncle Floyd, who died last week at 74. Host of The Uncle Floyd Show that ran on UHF and cable in the New York/New Jersey area for 25 years, from 1974 to 1998, the post reads as follows: “David was a big fan of The Uncle Floyd Show to the point of using around one minute and twenty seconds of dialogue from it for the TOY track, ‘Uncle Floyd.’ That version never saw the light of day officially, but it did morph into ‘Slip Away’ when it was re-imagined for Heathen in 2002.” The site then posted Floyd’s tribute to Bowie when he died in 2016 in which he talked about David being recommended for the show by John Lennon along with this perfect observation: ‘He loved everyone who was off the path.’”

Prayers go out to Roger Daltrey on the recent death of his longtime personal assistant Doug Clarke after a short battle with cancer. He first started working for The Who in 1971.

Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood have both posted tributes on their Instagram pages to Lowell Fillmore "Sly" Dunbar, the Jamaican drummer who was one half of the rhythm section and reggae production duo Sly and Robbie, who died Monday at 73. Dunbar and bassist Robbie Shakespeare (who died in 2021) played on and produced a number of iconic reggae albums along with albums from Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Joe Cocker, Jackson Browne and many others.
