The Strumbellas Give Us The Scoop on Their New Album at ALTer Ego

Canadian folk-pop,The Strumbellasare in the house at our Musicians Institute Lounge. Fresh off the plane, lead singer/guitarist Simon Ward and David Ritter sat down with Harms and gave us the scoop on their latest visual release, SalvationThe song is a new upbeat, exciting direction for the scrappy folk band who "fell in love with pop music."

The music is definitely repping their unapologetically fun vibe. The new video features a variety of families giving us wicked dance moves self-choreographed by each individual family.

When asked about the possibility of a record coming soon, Dave let us in that a record is indeed coming! "It's coming, beyond that, it's a secret."

Simon then showed off his arm ink that displays the album cover art. The tattoo, a snake dawned in groovy skin, runs the length of his forearm. Simon joked that if the album doesn't come out, it's going to be very awkward that he'd already gotten the tattoo.

Ehh, you and all those bad breakups that thought matching tats were ever a good idea.

Next up, the group admits that they aren't focused on success or fame at this moment.

"When it comes down to it when I'm sitting in that room by myself, I really just want to create music that I love and hopefully others love. There's nothing more than that. If it sucks and people don't like it, that's cool, but its just the music we wanted to make."

That's definitely a great mindset to have. In the words of Kendrick Lamar, "Stay Humble."
